Visit Advanced Energy at APEC 2022: Power Solutions for Semiconductor, Industrial and Medical Applications

by donpedro

Advanced Energy (Nasdaq: AEIS) – a global leader in highly engineered, precision power conversion, measurement and control solutions – is showcasing its power supplies for medical and industrial applications at booth 1443 at the Applied Power Electronics Show (APEC) 2022, which takes place March 20-24 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX. In addition, Advanced Energy will deliver a presentation on power for plasma processes at the conference’s plenary session.

Advanced Energy will be exhibiting under the Versatile Power brand that the company acquired in 2020. AE’s Versatile Power booth 1443 will showcase the company’s latest ‘Bench XR’ 600 W and ‘Rack XR’ 1500 W high-density programmable DC power supplies. Supplied in a 1U form-factor, these LXI-certified 400 V / 33 A and 400 V / 70 A technologies are ideal for applications ranging from medical surgical equipment and industrial automation systems to telecommunications and R&D.

In addition to its presence at the exhibition, Advanced Energy will also be delivering a presentation during the APEC conference plenary sessions. Presented by Advanced Energy Technical Fellow Gideon (Don) van Zyl, the presentation discusses how advances in power electronics devices, circuits, and measurement and control are enabling new processing solutions that address the unique challenges plasma loads present for power electronics engineers in critical semiconductor and medical applications.

“APEC is an important event for Advanced Energy and the power electronics industry,” said Randy Heckman, Chief Technology Officer at Advanced Energy. “The conference provides an opportunity to showcase new technologies and to share information to address issues of immediate and long-term interest to the practicing power engineer.”

Acquired by Advanced Energy in January 2020, Versatile Power has a long history of providing radio frequency (RF) and programmable power supplies for medical and industrial applications.

Entitled ‘Driving Plasma: Advancing Power Conversion in Critical Semi and Medical Applications’, Advanced Energy’s keynote presentation will be delivered by Don van Zyl at 3.30 PM on Monday, March 21. Don received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in electronic engineering and B.Sc.Hons. degree in mathematics from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1985, 1991 and 1996, respectively, and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. In 2001, he joined Advanced Energy where he currently is a Technical Fellow. Don has 39 patents and is interested in nonlinear systems, RF systems and circuits, and control and measurement systems.
