With a footprint of 480 × 125 mm², the Infineon HV PDB supports both ±400 V and 800 V distribution architectures and delivers an output power of up to 12 kW
Infineon Technologies is introducing its High-Voltage Power Distribution Board (HV PDB), a complete reference design for next-generation power supply architectures in AI data centers. The reference board allows customers to evaluate ±400 V and 800 V power distribution systems and accelerate their deployment. As a system-level platform, the HV PDB integrates high-voltage protection, intermediate bus conversion, power regulation and telemetry management onto a single board. This enables designers to reduce development complexity and time-to-market while gaining valuable insights into system efficiency, protection behavior and power orchestration. The platform is designed for high-voltage power supply architectures in AI server racks.
12 kW Power Distribution with GaN-Based Conversion
With a footprint of 480 × 125 mm², the HV PDB supports both ±400 V and 800 V distribution architectures and delivers an output power of up to 12 kW. It includes input fuses, a dual hot-swap module, EMI filtering, two 6 kW high-voltage IBC modules (±400 V to 50 V) and two regulated 2.5 kW IBC modules (48 V to 12 V). The dual hot-swap module supports up to 32 kW and provides safe startup, fault isolation, telemetry monitoring and system protection.
Fully gallium nitride (GaN)-based HV IBC modules achieve a peak efficiency of up to 98.5 percent, followed by regulated 12 V conversion stages. The dedicated MCU board manager based on the PSOC™ 3 handles telemetry, system monitoring and intelligent energy management. In addition, the platform combines Infineon’s silicon, silicon carbide (SiC), and GaN technologies in a complete high-voltage power conversion solution for next-generation AI servers and data centers.
Flexible Evaluation and System-Level Monitoring
The HV PDB also serves as a flexible evaluation platform, allowing developers to operate the entire power chain or isolate individual stages for architectural studies. Telemetry and PMBus connectivity enable system-level monitoring and coordination, while a PSOC evaluation board interface allows developers to implement custom firmware. Alternative IBC modules, EMI filter configurations and power management approaches can also be evaluated. This modular approach provides insights into the startup sequence, fault behavior and overall system performance. The HV PDB is designed to accommodate industry-standard half-brick HV IBC and quarter-brick MV IBC power converter modules with standardized pinouts, providing customers with the flexibility to use alternative, drop-in compatible solutions according to their specific system requirements.
