Kontron, a global provider of cloud and carrier-class integrated infrastructure platforms, has announced its 10 year partnership with Airbus, a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services, to provide public safety professionals around the world with intelligent and secure radio communication solutions to handle any given emergency situation.
Based on TETRAPOL technologies, Airbus’ Secure Land Communications (SLC) system is designed to equip the people who collaborate both in times of crisis and during regular operations, with efficient communication services that will not fail. This involves transmitting information via professional mobile radio (PMR) devices over large-scale networks. The system serves 2 million mission-critical users across 80 countries, including first responders, healthcare workers, transportation, military and police forces.
To this day, Airbus has implemented 40 TETRAPOL networks serving professionals in 15 countries with secure, reliable voice and data communications, infrastructures and terminals to support their duties with robust and state-of-the-art technology.
These highly secure communication services consisting of voice, messaging and multimedia sharing are of utmost importance given the current global health crisis and immense pressure healthcare and other public safety organizations are experiencing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Over the last decade, the Kontron CG product series has been a key hardware component of the TETRAPOL ecosystem. The ruggedized yet sophisticated design of the CG carrier-grade rackmount server makes it ideal to support telecom fixed-wireless central office or any mission-critical edge use cases that require high availability. All hardware releases of the CG family currently run in Airbus Defense and Space’s datacenters worldwide.
Airbus has selected Kontron’s CG carrier-grade server family 10 years in a row, for its high performance system design with dual-socket, high core processing power, built-in power management capabilities, optimized I/O and storage feature set, and dual redundant AC or DC power options in a compact form factor. The 20″ deep ruggedized server meets NEBS level-3 compliance and is backed by an extended lifecycle.
“We are proud to be working with Airbus in support of their mission to protect the general population during times like these,” says Bertrand Foulon, Global Business Development Manager at Kontron. “It is an honor to be part of such a crucial ecosystem where reliable and interoperable communication solutions between various authorities results in lives being saved.”
*Our heart-felt appreciation goes out to all workers stepping up for the rest of the population during this unprecedented global crisis; we need you and we appreciate all that you do during Covid-19 and beyond.
