The SAMA5D27-SOM1-EK1 development board is a fast prototyping and evaluation platform for the SAMA5D27-SOM1 which helps ease development of industrial-grade microprocessor-based systems.
The ATSAMA5D27-SOM1, which contains the ARM® Cortex®-A5 ATSAMA5D27C-D1G-CU System in Package (SiP), greatly simplifies design by integrating the power management, non-volatile boot memory, Ethernet PHY and high-speed lower power DDR2 memory onto a small, single-sided Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The SAMA5D27 SOM1 is built on a common set of proven Microchip components and limits the design rules of the main application board, reducing overall PCB complexity and cost.
Linux-based applications have access to Microchip’s extensive set of device drivers, middleware and application layers for the embedded market at no charge. All of Microchip’s Linux development code for the SiP and SOM are mainlined in the Linux communities.
The kit comprises a baseboard with a soldered ATSAMA5D27-SOM1 module, which features an ATSAMA5D27C-D1G-CU SIP embedding a 1-Gbit (128 MB) DDR2 DRAM.
The board features a wide range of peripherals, as well as a user interface and expansion options, including two mikroBUS™ click interface headers to support MikroElektronika click boards™ and one PMOD™ interface.
