Moxa Europe GmbH, a trusted leader in industrial communications and networking solutions, will showcase its latest-generation secure protocol gateways and device servers for secure edge connectivity in energy infrastructures at EM-Power Europe, part of The smarter E Europe, in Hall B.5, Booth 133.
In today’s power grids, OT data controls the flow of electricity. Moxa provides the foundation for this: its comprehensive range of secure and reliable devices for the precise acquisition, processing, and networking of data improves communication at system level. It supports future-proof energy facilities through serial and Modbus integration, intuitive diagnostic functions, and a scalable network architecture. This makes Moxa’s products ideal for modernizing renewable energy plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS), electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructures, substations, and network peripherals.
Moxa is introducing the MGate G2 Series of Modbus gateways and the NPort IA5000-G2 Family of industrial device servers for integrating existing serial devices:
The MGate G2 Modbus gateways address integration and performance challenges when connecting Modbus TCP, RTU, ASCII, and proprietary or extended Modbus protocols for serial communication. They provide transparent Modbus TCP/RTU/ASCII conversion, support active polling, and cache data in the gateway, enabling SCADA systems to access Modbus data more efficiently. Designed to comply with IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 and developed in accordance with IEC 62443-4-1, they are valuable building blocks for secure edge connectivity in industrial networks and critical energy infrastructure.
The NPort IA5000-G2 device servers securely connect legacy serial devices, such as PLCs, measuring instruments, motors, drives, barcode readers, or operator displays, to Ethernet networks without complex rewiring. Two Ethernet ports can be used for redundancy or two IP addresses, depending on the network architecture. Encrypted data transmission, one-click diagnostics, embedded traffic monitoring, and surge protection enable easy deployment, fast troubleshooting, and the secure operation of industrial serial-to-Ethernet applications.
Secure networking for modern energy systems
The new products are part of the comprehensive portfolio of devices for networking and managing energy systems. This includes the IEC 62443-4-2-certified managed switches of the EDS-4000/G4000 Series. They are suitable for building complete Gigabit network architectures and support their certification according to IEC 62443-3-3 Security Level 2. The EDR-G9010 firewall, which is also IEC 62443-4-2 certified, complies with the latest cybersecurity regulations thanks to its signature-based IPS/IDS module and deep packet inspection functionality.
Moxa’s MXview One network management software supports the NIS2 requirements for critical infrastructure. It provides transparency by detecting network and SNMP/IP devices on the network, visualizing topologies, including the current hardening status of network components, and giving an overview of the firmware versions in use. With features such as firmware vulnerability management, backup and restore, incident response, and rogue device detection, it is a key component for ensuring cybersecurity in any network.
