PRQA | Programming Research, a global leader in static analysis, announces QA∙C and MISRA C compliance module will be used by Protean Electric, a leading clean technology automotive manufacturer. Protean Electric is looking to develop high integrity software, adhere to the MISRA Coding Standard and to achieve ISO 26262 certification to Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) Level D which has the most safety critical processes and the strictest testing regulations. Protean Electric has developed an in-wheel electric drive system for hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric light-duty vehicles and is helping to reduce the carbon footprint in the automotive industry.
After exhaustive evaluation between Polyspace and QA∙C, PRQA’s solutions were chosen because of the low number of false positives in diagnostic summaries.
Huw Jones, Senior Software Test Engineer mentioned that “at Protean Electric, I am part of the software team which comprises of 10 software developers testing the Protean Drive embedded software. As we develop safety-critical applications, it’s vital that our software is of high integrity and QA∙C with its MISRA C compliance module enables us to ensure high quality software. We also strongly believe that having a certified tool such as QA∙C, is the most cost effective & quickest route and reduces the risk to obtaining ISO 26262 compliance.”
The implementation of the tool has started immediately and Protean Electric used the setup created by PRQA during the evaluation of the tool which meant that the installation was quick, smooth and painless.
Paul Blundell, CEO of PRQA said: “We’re delighted that QA∙C and its MISRA C compliance module are playing such an important role in helping Protean Electric achieve ISO 26262 certification.”
