High-Precision Work at Dizzying Height

Green Light for Move into Pressure Compensation Seals Process Center (PCS PC)

One of the central aspects concerning the establishment of the new process center was compliance with new and future technical cleanliness requirements primarily from the automotive and electronics industries.

The distance between buildings II and III on Schreiner Group’s premises is not very long but this time it must be covered at a height of approximately 10 meters: a high-precision punch is moving, impressively marking the launch of the new process center for Schreiner ProTech’s pressure compensation seals (PCS PC).

There’s not a lot of room for maneuver while the machine is being inched through the dismantled window façade. Absolute precision plays a crucial part not only in this heavy-duty move but in other respects as well. “The reason why we’re hauling the punch in one piece,” explains Adrian Marggraf, Product Manager PCS at Schreiner ProTech, “is simple. On the one hand, we want to avoid the potential for errors that simply exists when dismantling and reassembling the machine and on the other hand, our customers benefit from the punch being ready to operate at its new location as soon as possible.”

The high-precision punch, weighing around 6 metric tons, is moved to the new Pressure Compensation Seals Process Center (PC PCS).

The new facilities will accommodate all production-related stages from the materials receiving area to the final pressure compensation seal in a process center organization. One of the central aspects concerning the establishment of the new process center was compliance with new and future technical cleanliness requirements primarily from the automotive and electronics industries. Thanks to the new architectural and spatial improvements the customers’ elevated technical cleanliness requirements can be perfectly covered.

In addition, the PCS PC offers the opportunity to further enhance the previous high standards of quality by even more extensive functional inbound goods inspections, in-process inspections, and automated finished parts inspections. The continuation of short throughput times and utilization of the most advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance product reliability round out the concept of the process center.

Moving in one piece: The high-precision punch is always used for exclusive, customized products such as PCS HighProtect or nameplate-integrated PCS.

Summarizing the situation when the punch weighing around 6 metric tons is finally suspended from the crane and carefully hauled across the yard, Adrian Marggraf says, “That’s a very important building block today.” The high-precision punch is always used for exclusive, customized products such as PCS HighProtect or nameplate-integrated PCS. This production system was specifically developed and purchased for the purpose of complying with the exacting tolerances and requirements of the automotive industry for these multilayered and complex products. In our new PCS PC, it will continue to ensure that customers can always rely on top-quality pressure compensation seals from Schreiner ProTech.
