The main area of application is the AC safety shutdown in EV chargers with high output power, which is needed for shorter charging times. By reducing the voltage applied to the coil after the nominal voltage has been applied for 100ms of relay operation, the current consumption is reduced to a low twelve percent compared to the nominal consumption of the coil, and thus to 35 percent of the nominal voltage of the coil.
