Power over Ethernet (PoE) is playing an increasingly important role in machine vision, surveillance and access control. On the one hand, the number of PoE-capable devices is constantly increasing, while on the other hand, the technology enables simplified installation and lower installation costs. The new Power over Ethernet expansion card GPOE-6P from ICP Germany completes the GPOE expansion card series. In addition to the existing 2 and 4 port solution, the GPOE-6P with 6 PoE ports can now be used. Compact in size of 170 × 107 mm, it has a PCI Express x4 interface and can be used in a variety of systems. The physical Ethernet interfaces are certified according to the IEEE 802.3at/bt standard and automatically detect PoE or non PoE capable devices. The GPOE-6P offers a maximum output power of 90 watts per port, with a maximum total output power of 180 watts. An operating temperature of 0°C to 60°C and the input voltage of 12V~24VDC offer sufficient flexibility for the user. The included GPOE management software tools allow the use under Windows and Linux. Thus, the GPOE-6P PCIe expansion card is the perfect basis for the successful setup of surveillance applications on smallest space.
