SE_Skipper_UBT21-1At this year’s embedded world (hall 3; booth 249), SE Spezial-Electronic presents the SE Skipper UBT21-1 Bluetooth 4.0 USB dongle featuring an exceptional range of up to 300m in free space and a data rate of up to 720kbps. Thanks to this high data rate, the dongle is ideally suited for use as a transmitter and receiver adapter for wireless industrial and medical systems. Its integrated Bluetooth stack supports concurrent operation of classical Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy. As a result, the SE Skipper UBT21-1 device can also be used as a local Bluetooth Smart Ready gateway for the Internet of Things without using the Bluetooth stack of the operating system. Using a unique multiplex protocol (EDM), SE Skipper UBT21-1 can simultaneously manage up to seven individual Bluetooth links independent of the operating system and external radio drivers. As an additional significant advantage for device manufacturers and dongle users, protocol processing and configuration storage are entirely handled within the SE Skipper UBT21-1 device. For this purpose, SE Skipper UBT21-1 provides graphic, Windows-based configuration software “SPA Toolbox” and an application programming interface (API) which easily integrates into application-specific software programs. Once programmed for the specific requirements of a customer, no further user configuration is required. The computer, which can be a desktop PC, a laptop or an embedded board, must only provide an uncommitted USB port. Suitable virtual COM port drivers (VCP) are available for all common operating systems. Designed by SE Spezial-Electronic, SE Skipper UBT21-1 is produced in Germany using highquality components. It is specified for ambient temperatures from -30°C to +70°C and meets all EMC requirements per IEC 60601-1-1-2 (2007). It is certified as an end product for Europe (CE/R&TTE), Canada (IC), the U.S. (FCC), and Japan (TELEC). Approvals for Brazil (Anatel) and Australia (RCM) are pending.
