JAN17-RUT-Microchip-AN_SAML22The Microchip SMART SAM L series of ARM Cortex-M0+ based microcontrollers is the highest scoring product family in the EEMBC ULPBench, the leading independent low-power benchmark. At embedded world, Rutronik (booth 3A-438) presents a demonstrator for thermostat cloud applications based on a SAM L22 microcontroller. The devices of the SAM L series offer an ultra-low power capacitive touch with a segment LCD controller that can deliver up to 320 segments, making them ideal for low-power applications including thermostats, electric/gas/water meters, home control, medical and access systems.
The SAM L22 series delivers advanced security and safety features with 256-bit AES, true random number generator, Flash protection, tamper protection and cyclic redundancy check (CRC) to ensure information is securely stored, delivered and accessible. To get the lowest possible power consumption, the devices use Microchip’s proprietary picoPower® technologies and smart low-power peripherals that work independently of the CPU in sleep modes. In addition to segment LCD supporting up to eight communication lines, capacitive touch sensing and built-in security measures, the SAM L22 series features up to 256kB of Flash and 32KB of SRAM, crystal less USB device, programmable Serial Communication modules (SERCOM) and Microchip’s patented Event System and Sleepwalking™ technologies. To accelerate designs, the SAM L22 Microchip Xplained Pro is available – a professional evaluation board featuring an on-board debugger and standardized extension connectors. The demonstration uses SAM L22 Xplained Pro Evaluation Kit, ATWINC1500 Xplained Pro Kit, and the I/O1 Xplained Pro Kit. The Touch SLCD1 Xplained Pro has five mutual capacitive QTouch® buttons integrated on the segment LCD. It is included in the SAM L22 Xplained Pro evaluation kit.
