OnLogic Releases Powerful New IGEL Ready Thin Clients

by donpedro

IGEL Ready program partner, OnLogic, announced the release of the new IGL130 and IGL160 IGEL Ready thin clients. Featuring fanless thermal management and AMD® Ryzen™ Embedded processing, these new systems combine the high performance to IGEL’s popular Universal Desktop line of hardware with OnLogic’s dependable operation that comes from its industrial application lineage.

“At AMD, we understand enterprise applications need new levels of processing efficiency and versatility,” said Amey Deosthali, director, Embedded Product Management, AMD. “The AMD Ryzen Embedded processors are an excellent fit for OnLogic’s new IGEL Ready Thin Clients, delivering high performance and extended scalability for enterprise applications.”

The IGL130 offers capabilities equivalent to the IGEL UD3, while the more powerful IGL160 offers performance on par with the IGEL UD7. Both systems are rigorously tested by OnLogic and verified by IGEL for compatibility with IGEL OS.

“Our latest IGEL Ready systems are designed to provide a familiar computing experience for the IGEL community in tandem with the application, installation and environmental flexibility of our industrial grade hardware,” said Mike Walsh, Partner Product Manager at OnLogic. “We think it’s a winning combination, especially if you need a thin client that can operate 24/7 in an environment with dust and debris – such as a warehouse or factory. That said, there are plenty of benefits to losing the fan in more traditional computing environments as well.”

The fanless IGL130 and IGL160 remove a common point of failure in traditional PCs; the fan. By doing so, fanless thin clients also limit the unnecessary movement of air, reduce the amount of particulates that enter into the system, and provide silent operation to reduce the amount of noise in working environments.

“If you’ve ever crawled under a desk to check a cable, you’ve likely seen just how dusty it gets even in a traditional office environment, especially on or around a normal fanned PC,” said Hans Brakely, Mechanical Engineering Manager at OnLogic. “Considering what’s outside the system, you can imagine how bad they get inside with the fan continuously pulling in that dust and depositing it all over the components. With fanless and ventless thin clients, you eliminate the need to pull that potentially dusty air across vital electrical systems.”

Advantages of OnLogic IGEL Ready Hardware

Tested and verified by IGEL to ensure compatibility, OnLogic IGEL Ready thin clients are ready to plug and play. IGEL empowers IT organizations with the tools to control, update and provision all of their devices from a single pane of glass dashboard with IGEL OS. Whether creating a thin client solution for basic web access and office use, or architecting complex cloud workspaces using Amazon Web Services or the Microsoft Azure cloud, OnLogic hardware with pre-imaged IGEL OS gets workspaces up and running quickly.

“We are pleased to see OnLogic continue to expand their portfolio of IGEL Ready industrial thin client solutions,” said Divya Saggar, Director, IGEL Ready, IGEL. “Since joining the IGEL Ready program in 2020, they have demonstrated both innovation and ingenuity in leveraging IGEL OS to provide end users working in rugged and harsh environments, including factories and warehouses, with secure access to their cloud-enabled workspaces.”
