NeoCortec to showcase NeoMesh at Electronica 2022

by donpedro

NeoCortec, manufacturer of ultra-low-power bi-directional wireless mesh network modules, has challenged 1st Year electronics engineering student Markus Rytter to design and set up a NeoMesh wireless network in Hall B5 at Electronica in Munich, Germany where NeoCortec will exhibit at Stand W11 from 15th to 18th November 2022. NeoMesh based sensors scattered around the hall will collect various environment data throughout the hall. The measurements will be displayed on a monitor on NeoCortec’s stand.

Comments Thomas Steen Halkier, CEO at Neocortec: “We want to show the visitors how easy it is to work with NeoMesh. So we challenged Markus to design and implement a sensor network from scratch, allowing him only two months to get everything up and running. Markus accepted the challenge, and I am confident he will make it work so that we will have something interesting to show to our visitors. The aim is to set up a network of battery powered sensors who will collect data such as indoor climate values and visitor density in the various sections of the hall.”

NeoCortec’s NeoMesh wireless network solution offers great advantages of massive scalability, ultra-low power and ruggedness in comparison with other wireless technologies currently on the market. NeoMesh is based on a decentralized mesh of self-governing nodes which are not dependent on a network coordinator. NeoMesh utilizes highly-accurate time-synchronization between the nodes, allowing nodes to sleep and wake up efficiently only when required. Most of the time the nodes are asleep with their radio turned off. However, at scheduled intervals the radios wake up to listen for messages and to send messages if required, before going back to sleep again. This approach results in an average power consumption of typically only a few 10s of micro amperes, enabling battery powered operation on a single set of two AA batteries for several years.

The unique NeoCortec protocol stack is offered for both 2.4GHz as well as sub 1GHz frequency bands, delivered in a series of pre-approved modules. The modules suit a broad range of applications based on IoT and Cloud-based sensor networks, including smart home and smart workplace, metering, security, agriculture, transportation, industry 4.0, medical and food distribution. All NeoCortec modules share the same tiny 11x18x2.6mm footprint, so the target product does not need to change to support a full range of frequency bands.
