Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now shipping the highly anticipated Neo single-board computers from UDOO. The UDOO Neo boards, now available from Mouser Electronics, are open-source, low-cost computers available in three models: Basic, Extended, and Full. Each Neo board is equipped with a Freescale i.MX 6 SoloX applications processor with a 1GHz ARM® Cortex®-A9 core for Android and Linux, and an embedded ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller, which makes the boards compatible with the Arduino environment.
The Neo boards offer 54 general-purpose inputs and outputs (GPIO), including two sets of I/O headers: One that meets the Arduino Uno form factor for use with Arduino shields, and an additional set that provides extended I/O functionality. Through the headers, engineers can access USB, I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN bus interfaces and eight PWM signals. All three Neo boards integrate a graphics processor with 2D/3D graphics acceleration and include a micro HDMI port and LVDS interface.
The UDOO Neo Basic includes 512 MBytes of DDR3 RAM and features 10/100 Ethernet. The Neo Extended offers 1GByte of DDR3 RAM, as well as 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy connectivity. The Neo Full includes the same features as the Extended and adds 10/100 Ethernet, as well as nine-axis motion sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer) for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
The UDOO Neo boards support many development environments (including Arduino, Python, and PHP), plus support for Android Lollipop and UDOObuntu2 — the official UDOO distribution of the Lubuntu Linux operating system.
