Microchip introduces 150 mA, 16V voltage regulators with short-circuit current foldback

Microchip announces the MCP1754/MCP1754S low dropout regulators (LDOs) which feature a high typical PSRR of 70dB at 1kHz, and a maximum output current of 150mA at a junction temperature of +125°C. Both LDOs offer a high input voltage of 16V; an output voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V, with standard output voltages of 2V, 2.5V, 2.8V, 3V, 3.3V, 4V and 5V; and output voltage tolerances of ±2.0 percent over the entire temperature range. The MCP1754 provides enhanced features, such as a shutdown input signal and a power-good output signal, while the MCP1754S is the baseline version of the device. The LDOs are ideal for designs such as GFCI and AFCI circuit-breakers, or for power adapters in the automotive market, cell phones in the consumer electronics market, and medical products.
The devices’ high-PSRR allows them to meet the need for LDOs capable of rejecting power-supply noise in sensitive electronic circuits. The wide range of output-voltage options enhances flexibility, and the small package size reduces board space, whilst the devices also reduce cost. They can be used to power Microchip’s portfolio of PIC® microcontrollers, as well as other MCUs.
