Less space required on the PCB: Rutronik introduces SMT high-current chokes from TDK‘s updated ERU16 series

by donpedro

Compact inductors for high currents: the 17.3×16.5mm EPCOS ERU-SMT power inductors from TDK require twelve percent less space than the predecessor model. The low overall height of 7.55mm (1.0μH) or 11.1mm (30μH) is type-dependent. The flat design is possible due to the flat rectangular helical winding technology used, which also enables loss reduction. A third solder pad ensures particularly high mechanical stability on the PCB. TDK‘s ERU16 series is available at https://www.rutronik24.com.

The inductance values of the chokes range between 1.0μH and 30μH. Their DC resistances range from 1mΩ to 15.4mΩ, and the saturation currents ranges from 10.3A DC to 40.4A DC at an operating temperature of 25°C. The high-current chokes are suitable for a temperature range of -40°C to 150°C.

They are RoHS-compatible as well as qualified according to AEC-Q200 and are suitable for use in POL and DC-DC converters, high-current switch-mode power supplies, inverters for PV systems as well as inverters in hybrid and e-vehicles.
