Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) smart entrance counter solution has been named a CES ® 2021 Innovation Awards Honoree in the “Smart Cities” category. The solution enables accurate, anonymous and contactless people counting using a single XENSIV™ 60 GHz radar and integrated software. A traffic light system informs whether entry to the location is allowed. At a time when social distancing is imperative to help slow down the spread of COVID-19, the radar-based entrance counter provides an effective way to manage room occupancy and traffic in commercial, office and public spaces.
“We are honored to be named an Innovation Awards Honoree by CES, one of the world’s most important consumer shows. This award is a recognition of our mission to make life easier, safer and greener,” said Maher Matta, Senior Vice President, Power and Sensor Systems at Infineon Technologies Americas. “From the beginning of the pandemic, we aimed to create an innovative solution that enables businesses to keep operations running safely, while at the same time protecting personal data. By using radar instead of a camera, our smart entrance counter solution achieves both of these objectives.”
The smart entrance counter solution will be showcased on Infineon’s exhibitor platform during the all-digital CES 2021 on January 12-13, along with other solutions designed for next-generation smart consumer devices. With a focus on smart and connected devices for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, power semiconductors to efficiently handle the energy needs of electronic systems and audio ICs that delivers exceptional audio quality, Infineon’s exhibitor platform centers around technologies that enhance consumer experiences to link the real and the digital world.
Sensor solutions
Infineon’s sensor portfolio is characterized by breakthrough products, unique low-power designs and system-level thinking. XENSIV sensors are helping to define and build new device categories for intuitive sensing based on Time-of-Flight imaging, low-power radar, unique CO 2 detection and pressure sensor, as well as MEMS microphones. Sensor applications are a dynamic segment of the technology industry, bringing game-changing capabilities in smart buildings and predictive maintenance, smart speakers and lighting systems, and wearables.
Power solutions
Infineon’s complete power IC portfolio and broad line of microcontroller ICs fulfill consumer and industrial device manufacturer’s requirements for wireless charging and high density charger and adapter designs. Wireless charging lets consumers cut the cord, offering access to safe, efficient chargers for handheld devices that fit “always on” lifestyles. Manufacturers focused on time-to-market success can rely on evaluation and reference boards from Infineon and its partners for standards-compliant and certification-ready production designs.
In addition, Infineon’s MERUS™ Class D Audio amplifier ICs and powerful driver MOSFET/GaN combinations support audio applications ranging from 20 W to 2000 W or more per channel. Featuring multilevel amplification technology, the Infineon audio ICs lower power consumption, reduces interference and out-of-band noise, while yielding lower overall system solution costs. High-efficiency and high power density translates to exceptional portable audio sound, reduced heat generation for multi-channel solution performance and design freedom for systems in any form factor, from great sounding smart speakers to professional stage amplifiers and line arrays.
About the CES Innovation Awards
The CES Innovation Awards program, owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) ® is an annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products across 28 product categories. An elite panel of industry expert judges, including members of the media, designers, engineers and more, reviewed submissions based on innovation, engineering and functionality, aesthetic and design. CES ® Innovation Awards are granted to products based upon materials submitted by the honorees. CTA neither verifies the accuracy of any submissions nor tests any products.
