IAR Systems® launches a complete starter kit for the low-power RX111 microcontrollers from Renesas Electronics. Based on the Renesas Promotion Board (RPB), IAR KickStart Kit™ for RX111 includes evaluation versions of the world-leading embedded development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench® for RX. The kit can be used to evaluate the tools and the microcontroller, as well as to design, start develop, integrate and test applications.
The RX111 group features a combination of ultra-low power consumption, on-chip connectivity and high performance. It is designed to support a broad range of applications where energy efficiency and low power consumption are critical, within markets such as mobile healthcare, smart meters and sensors. The powerful optimization technology of IAR Embedded Workbench will enable users to achieve the fastest performing code and thereby make full use of the ultra-low-power and high performance of the microcontrollers.
Included with the kit are a 64KB-limited license as well as a time-limited license of IAR Embedded Workbench for RX.
The toolchain includes powerful build tools and a feature-rich debugger integrated in a user-friendly development environment. Also included is a migration guide and project converter for easily transferring projects from Renesas e2 studio to IAR Embedded Workbench.
IAR KickStart Kit for RX111 includes a number of example applications as well as a low-power demo with a graphical user interface (GUI) from Renesas that allows developers to measure the power consumption of the target board in each of its low-power modes. In addition to integrated power measurement capabilities, the board features on-chip J-Link debug functionality, an on-chip USB interface, PMOD and Energy Harvesting connectors and a wide range of digital and analogue peripherals. The kit is priced at $15 / €12 and available for purchase from IAR Systems’ e-shop.
IAR Embedded Workbench for RX is available in several editions, including a Baseline edition tailored for developers working with the smaller memory RX microcontrollers.
The Baseline edition is limited to a code size of 256 KB but provides full compiler and debugger functionality. More information is available at www.iar.com/ewrx
