Enabling World-Class Connectivity for Mobility and Beyond: Murata Heads to CES 2024

by gabi

Murata is pleased to announce it will be at CES 2024. This extensive event is the prime opportunity to experience the world’s latest technological innovations, and Murata will showcase a wide range of innovative communication and mobility solutions. Taking place between January 9th to 12th in Las Vegas, our stand will be located in the Vehicle Technology Pavilion (West Hall Booth #6300). Attendees are invited to meet with our onsite experts to get a firsthand look at Murata’s latest solutions, as well as upcoming technologies that are still under development.

Mobility Solutions

Murata’s mobility solutions are designed to enhance and evolve existing automotive models through cutting-edge engineering and novel applications.

The RFID Tire Tag is a reliable embedded solution that brings digital ID and tracking to the entire tire supply chain. From manufacturing through to operation and end of life, the RFID tag can help to accurately trace and manage the tire’s history, increase product insight and ease logistics considerations.

Another product leveraging Murata’s extensive wireless knowledge is the new phone as a key (PaaK) solution. Utilizing UWB and BLE technology, no internet connectivity is required with standardized systems existing for automotive, home and office lock types. The solution is also Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) Digital Key compliant for authentication and sharing.

Targeting the latest intelligent lighting and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) functions are two more innovations from Murata. The new micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) based dynamic headlight leveling solution helps to lower costs and system weight by eliminating traditional suspension sensors and wire harnesses. Replacing them with a cutting-edge inertia measuring unit (IMU) and fusion algorithm. Supporting the safety and accuracy of ADAS functionality, as well as more advanced autonomous driving systems, is Murata’s Ultrasonic Cleaning Device. This highly integrated solution ensures pristine optical camera vision even in adverse weather conditions, contributing to more reliable automotive sensor operation and safer roads.

Also designed for the latest ADAS and autonomous driving functions is Murata’s Gyro Compass module. This inexpensive solution enhances autonomous cars and navigation systems with its exceptional performance and fast localization ability. Ensuring high-performance but cost-effective operation is Murata’s new ASA-Based Power over Cable (PoC) solution. Supporting the need for greater intelligence and interconnectivity within vehicles, this device delivers maximum power in a small footprint and helps designers to provide the functionality they need without compromising vehicle performance.

Connectivity Solutions

At CES 2024, Murata is bringing an incredible range of connectivity modules, platform solutions and components to support applications ranging from industrial and clinical to the internet of things (IoT) and smart wearable markets.

Included in Murata’s module offering is the next-generation Type 2GD cellular LPWA module. Utilizing Sony’s advanced Altair ALT1350 chipset, it is a feature-rich solution for IoT applications (including iSIM/NTN) and exhibits incredibly low power consumption in a miniaturized package. The Type 2EG is another low-powered and miniaturized product and provides secure Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 wireless connectivity. It is designed to support a wide range of edge applications, including in industrial and medical environments.

Murata will also display another low-cost, low-power device based on their chipset, that integrates wireless connectivity and network protocol stacks and is ideal for a variety of IoT applications. Supporting the latest wearable and smart home devices, Murata will showcase a wide range of low-power and compact solutions, including GNSS devices and modules for the ever expanding, and unifying, Matter smart home protocol.

Allowing attendees to explore products beyond the scope of typical interconnectivity, Murata will display a number of wireless components and sensors. Enabling devices to sense their surrounding environments, Murata’s Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology enables secure ranging and short-range radar in a highly integrated, single chip solution with multiple on-board antennas for ease of design.

Those working in the medical field will be able to see Murata’s revolutionary Solid-State H+ (pH) sensor up close. This disposable sensor is helping to shape the future of biotech monitoring and molecular analysis and uses a solid-state electrode to deliver true innovation. Ensuring reliable connection for a wide range of designs on display at CEs is Murata’s LF antenna range. These innovative solutions leverage unique material technology and core shape and are ideally suited for automotive smart keys and TPMS.

Finally, Murata will also demonstrate its Cross Connect platform and ultra-low power communications solutions for ambient IoT sensors. When the former is coupled with M.2 Wi-Fi cards, it can enable streamlined development and quicker time to market. With the latter solution, Murata is proud to support HaiLa Technologies Inc. who are paving the way for battery-free IoT sensing by repurposing existing wireless infrastructure.
