Digi-Key Adds KiCad PCB Model Download

by donpedro

Digi-Key, a global electronic components distributor, announced the addition of KiCad open source EDA software to its list of EDA model output formats for schematic symbols and PCB footprints covering 1 million in-stock Digi-Key parts.

One added value we provide our customers is the ability to download EDA and CAD models for many of the parts we sell,” said Jeremy Purcell, Program Manager – Digital Design Tools, Design Support at Digi-Key. “We’ve recently seen an increase in the number of requests for KiCad model support, so we worked with our model partner to add KiCad support to Ultra Librarian.

Digi-Key’s interface to Ultra Librarian offers an easy download of library components in 24 CAD formats supporting most EDA and CAD toolsets now including KiCad. Customers can verify the Digi-Key and manufacturer’s part number, preview the graphics for the models, choose the output formats, and download up to 15 parts per month.

Having fully-qualified symbols, footprints, and 3D models through Digi-Key and Ultra Librarian will be a tremendous resource for our KiCad user base,” said Wayne Stambaugh, KiCad Project Leader. “As an open source project, we welcome all support for our community.

To start downloading EDA and CAD parts from Digi-Key, go to a part detail page www.digikey.ro/product-detail/en/texas-instruments/NE555DR/296-6501-2-ND/372491?WT.mc_id=PressRelease, look for the row labeled “EDA/CAD Models” and click on the Download from Ultra Librarian link.
