Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components™, is now stocking the QPG6105 smart home communications controller from Qorvo. Incorporating a single 2.4 GHz ISM-band radio, this multi-standard (multi-stack and multi-channel listening) system-on-a-chip (SoC) controller delivers superior RF performance, bridging all the leading low-power standard communication protocols, including Zigbee®, Thread, Matter™, Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) and Bluetooth Mesh. The Qorvo QPG6105 combines an integrated radio and microcontroller with power management and security features to help power a broad range of Internet of Things (IoT) and smart home applications.
The QPG6105 smart home communications controller, available from Mouser Electronics, is engineered using Qorvo’s hardware-based ConcurrentConnect™ technology, which enables faster communications, increases network capacity, helps create future-proof connected devices and improves scalability in IoT and connected home-based applications. This technology allows multi-channel capability, with up to three Personal Area Networks (PANs) operating on different channels, delivering enhanced interoperability with the leading low-power standards. Combined with the RF filters, antenna diversity for increased effective range and integrated baluns, which enable more efficient transmission and reception of signals, the QPG6105 SoC radio provides a robust, worldwide 2.4 GHz ISM-band RF technology solution.
Partnered with the radio functionality, the QPG6105 is driven by an integrated Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor with up to 64 MHz clock speed and DSP functionality. This integrated microcontroller features an 8-channel DMA engine, 128 Kb of low leakage retention RAM, 1 MB flash program memory and patchable ROM for flash offload to help reduce the overall flash memory footprint. On-chip enhanced security features include built-in support for secure boot, secure OTA software upgrade and secure identity, and power management functionality, including integrated regulators and data and state retention in all standby modes.
The QPG6105 is available now from Mouser Electronics in a RoHS-compliant 4 mm x 4 mm QFN32 package. The device supports direct interfacing with printed antennas, and no RF shielding is required. The QPG6105 SoC and its software are Zigbee and BLE certified and a candidate for Matter v1.0 certification. Target applications include connected lighting (offering an optimized BOM, reducing design components and PCBs), sensors, smart plugs, thermostats and wearables. The controller is also supported by a turn-key IoT development kit (QPG6105DK), also available from Mouser, allowing for quick development of connected lighting and other smart home devices.
