Former Dyson CEO and COO Jim Rowan to Appear on MADE IN

Following stellar guests including Jabil CEO Mark Mondello and former Flex CEO Mike McNamara, the team at MADE IN have announced that Jim Rowan, Dyson’s former CEO and COO will be their guest in their next show, set to broadcast on July 2nd at 2pm (Pacific).

MADE IN with Ron Keith of Supply Chain Resource Group and Philip Stoten writer and journalist for Forbes and SCOOP is fast becoming a regular for executives in the EMS industry and for those in the OEM world managing outsourced supply chains. Having heard from those in the EMS driving seat in the early episodes Ron and Philip are excited to know bring a guest from the OEM side, and not just any OEM. Until his recent resignation, Jim Rowan was CEO of Dyson and has been a board member since he joined the company as COO 2012. During his tenure, Jim delivered record results year over year, while rapidly expanding the company’s technical, digital, and commercial capabilities.

During his time as CEO, Jim oversaw the launch of an unparalleled suite of new Dyson innovation that allowed the company to successfully enter new industries such as air purification, hair care and lighting. This allowed Dyson to increase market share across the globe while also adding new markets such as India, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Korea and Mexico. Jim was instrumental in digitally transforming the company, utilizing e-commerce and dramatically increasing online sales and profit margins as a result.

As COO, Jim led all aspects of the core research, design and development as well as operational functions, from supply chain to logistics, planning and manufacturing, applying two decades of experience managing global operations. This includes his time as COO of Research In Motion (BlackBerry). Jim built his career from production floor, serving as an engineering apprentice while attending college and university. He founded two start-ups which were established, scaled and later acquired.

Jim, Ron and Philip will be exploring all things manufacturing and supply chain, discussing the world, through and beyond the COVID-19 crisis, and sharing their insight into the right supply chain, the right manufacturing footprint, and the EMS model.
