TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectors and sensors, will be presenting selected product highlights at SPS (12. – 14, 2024) in Hall 10, Stand 130, including the MicroBridge Flexfoil connection solution for boards with fine-pitch connectors.
TE is expanding its leading-edge Intercontec connector portfolio and presents the latest 723 series, which includes variants for the integration of PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) using single-cable connection technology in M23 format and a shielded configurable data element. Innovations from recently acquired companies will also be on display, including the EMC/RFI filters FN3297 and FN3298 from Schaffner and the latest sensor products from SENSE.
Wire-to-board connections with MicroBridge Flexfoil connectors
Miniaturization is a megatrend in the automation industry. TE is addressing this trend with its FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) fine pitch products. One example is the latest MicroBridge Flexfoil connection solution with a current carrying capacity of up to 1 A, which will be officially launched at the trade show. The flexible track with up to 20 contacts supports the typical 1.27 mm pitch of the MicroBridge connectors for wire-to-board connections in harsh environments with operating temperatures between -40 and 150 degrees C.
MicroBridge Flexfoil connector is used as a straight and 90-degree-angled connection, especially in the field of electromobility, between battery energy storage systems (BESS) and integrated power electronics as well as in automotive applications with lidar, display and camera systems. In particular, it is used to connect battery cells to the battery management system (BMS). It enables the transmission of signals such as load status and temperature from each individual cell to the BMS.
MicroBridge Flexfoil connections comply with LV214 (VW75174) and USCAR-2 specifications and are characterized by their robustness and reliability. An eCPA (electrical Connector Position Assurance) option prevents unintentional disconnection due to vibration or mechanical shock, increasing reliability in harsh environments.
Expanded Intercontec connector solutions portfolio
TE is expanding the portfolio of its leading-edge Intercontec connectors for power, signal and data transmission to include variants for direct single-cable PCB integration. The Intercontec 723 series connector supports the integration of decentralized automation technology devices for line and star structures. For the first time, it meets the requirement for higher electric strength of 850 VDC daisy-chaining de-centrally controlled servomotors.
Equipping the freely configurable connector variants with a six-pin data and a separately shielded Ethernet element results in fast industrial Ethernet connections (CAT 5) in real-time mode. Whether customers prefer straight, angled or continuously rotatable housings – the Speedtec fast-lock connector system helps enable a much faster lockable connection in automation technology than conventional connector systems.
Filter technology from Schaffner according to Class C2 and C1
TE will also be presenting solutions from SENSE and Schaffner in specially designated areas at the booth. SENSE offers a broad portfolio of inductive, capacitive and photoelectric sensors for process automation, e.g. in the food and beverage industry. Schaffner is a leading global provider of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) solutions.
At SPS, Schaffner will be presenting the latest generation of its three-phase EMC/RFI filters, including the FN3297 and the FN3298 with a very high attenuation performance. The two series are mains input filters for three phases and a neutral conductor support compliance with EMC standards. Those are relevant in industrial production systems (robotics, machine tools and packaging machines), in medical technology, in chargers, battery storage systems and photovoltaic (PV) converters.
The latest filter series are applied as cabinet mains input summary filter for the conducted EMC compliance of the entire machine control equipment. Their advanced filter topology helps to ensure compliance with Class C2 and even C1 limits according to IEC 61800-3:2022.
TE products arranged in inviting theme areas
TE will be showcasing its latest products in three application-focused theme areas to help visitors find the exhibits they are interested in more quickly. One area will feature solutions for automation controllers and sensors as well as network devices. Another area focuses on mobile machines and systems, including drive technology, especially for robotics and warehouse automation. The third area shows the range of solutions for smart infrastructures: from battery management to charging infrastructures for electric vehicles.
There will also be an Experience Zone again this year. Here, visitors can experience latest products and sample set-ups in a way that is both informative and entertaining. Advancements relating to Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) and Intercontec motor connectors will be presented in Technical Hubs.
