SECO will showcase advances in smart vending technology at embedded world in Nuremberg, Germany, on March 10-12, 2026. In Hall 1, booth 320, visitors will experience a live demonstration of a fully functional smart vending/kiosk solution based on the Clea Vend platform and the KarL4 contactless payment terminal, which provides reliable edge-to-cloud connectivity for actionable business insights based on dynamic transaction and usage data.
The demonstration simulates a real-world vending environment and shows how edge computing, digital payments, and cloud analytics can be combined into a single, end-to-end system. The setup features a 27” touchscreen display running on SECO’s SANTVEND single-board computer inside the vending machine, allowing users to browse products and complete purchases using a credit card payment flow enabled by the KarL4 contactless payment terminal.
Live Smart Vending Demo with Edge-to-Cloud Connectivity
During each transaction, payments are processed and operational data is collected locally at the edge, allowing the system to operate autonomously as a production-ready solution. Data is securely transmitted via the integrated LTE module to the cloud, where it is visualised in Clea Vend through real-time dashboards covering sales activity, payment methods, product performance, and machine status.
Scaling a Global Smart Vending and Payment Ecosystem
Visitors to embedded world can also learn more about the accelerated global deployment of SECO’s vending technology ecosystem. At the core of this offering is the KarL4 contactless payment terminal, which enables contactless transactions — including credit cards and mobile payments — and has already reached significant scale in Germany, accounting for approximately 14% of active girocard payment terminals and processing around 1.1% of all girocard transactions nationwide in the first half of 2025.
Building on this established presence, KarL4 has recently expanded from Germany to Italy and is scheduled to launch in the United States in early 2026. This milestone marks a new phase in SECO’s global roadmap for vending, strengthening the company’s role as a trusted partner for operators seeking secure, connected, and data-driven solutions.
Clea Vend, SECO’s cloud telemetry solution, enables vending analytics and telemetry through real-time monitoring, sales insights, and automated alerts. By turning operational data into actionable intelligence, it helps operators improve fleet efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and minimise revenue losses, with telemetry enabled via SECO devices and standardised interfaces to support both new and legacy machines.
SECO also offers retrofit HMI solutions that enhance existing vending machines with advanced user interfaces integrated with payment systems, simplifying the purchasing process and enabling new opportunities such as upselling and improved customer engagement.
