In Steinhagen, headquarter of Plasmatreat GmbH, the new technology and research center was officially opened on October 30th. The Plasma Campus will provide an ideal location for research and applications of plasma technology, as well as for accompanying conferences and training programs.

The usage of plasma in the electronics industry, for example surface cleaning of lead frames, micro-cleaning of bond pads contact surfaces before wire bonding, removal of oxidation from copper surfaces and cleaning of printed circuit boards before conformal coating, were also shown. “For each application area of our plasma technology we provide a specifically equipped room so that research and development can take place at Plasma Campus under state-of-the-art conditions,” explains Christian Buske, Managing Director of Plasmatreat GmbH. The guests had the opportunity to have employees demonstrate these different applications to them. Impressive examples were used to show how Openair-Plasma can change surface properties as a reproducible, effective, environmentally friendly and resource-saving process.

In addition to the research areas, special rooms for seminars, conferences and customer trainings are available. On the opening day, Christian Buske and his long-time companions from research and industry inaugurated these rooms with a number of informative lectures. “For us, the Plasma Campus is for now the tip of the iceberg. Since 1995 we have been developing and researching new areas of application for plasma. It is wonderful to be able to continue our efforts in this new building, which has been designed specifically for the purpose of our research; this is the best incentive for me and the entire team,” says Christian Buske.
