Now Available at Crowd Supply: board::mini, an Open-Source Vehicle Hacking Platform

by donpedro

Crowd Supply, the leading product development platform connecting hardware creators with early adopters and enthusiastic backers, announces the launch of board::mini, an open-source platform built specifically for connecting to a vehicle’s CAN bus. The mini::base is an STM32F103 MCU board that offers a CAN transceiver with ESD protection and hardware filter, as well as auxiliary features including a microSD card slot, atmospheric sensor, and others.

Board::mini, developed by bmc::labs with support from Crowd Supply, includes three expansions to the mini::base microcontroller board. Mini::out, a simple breakout board for the mini::base, features two 12-pin headers for IO access, a JTAG connector, and a spring-loaded clamp to provide CAN bus connectivity and up to 24V of power. Mini::grid supports GPS L1 C/A code and quad-band GSM connectivity. Based around the SIMCOM SIM868, mini::grid’s features a nano-SIM-card slot and a pair of Binder connectors. Mini::pit is based on the ESP32-WROOM-U and adds a second CAN bus with transceiver, filter, and protection to the mini::base.

Board::mini, one of the latest hardware projects launched through Crowd Supply, has been featured in popular media outlets including hackster.io.
