Now at Mouser: Renesas Electronics’ RZ/G3E Arm Cortex-A55-Based MPU for Human Machine Interface Applications

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components™, is now stocking the new RZ/G3E Arm® Cortex®-A55-based microprocessor (MPU) from Renesas Electronics. The RZ/G3E MPU is optimized for Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems requiring edge computing and AI acceleration. Providing high-speed connectivity and full HD graphics, the versatile MPU is ideal for building automation, factory equipment, medical monitors, retail terminals, and other industrial and consumer HMI applications.

RZ/G3E – Features

The Renesas Electronics RZ/G3E MPU, now available at Mouser, features a powerful quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor (CPU), an Ethos™-U55 Neural Processing Unit (NPU), and a Cortex-M33 core. This combination of features allows the RZ/G3E MPU to run artificial intelligence (AI) applications, such as object recognition and anomaly detection, while minimizing CPU load. For advanced HMI functionality, the RZ/G3E includes a graphics engine (GPU), video codec, and support for three types of image interfaces: LVDS (dual-link), MIPI-DSI, and parallel interface.

The built-in video codec supports both H.264 and H.265 encoding and decoding, enabling high-compression, high-quality video transmission and storage. The RZ/G3E MPU also features high-speed interfaces, including PCIe® Gen3 and USB 3.2 Gen2 for fast data transfer and dual-channel Gigabit Ethernet for connectivity with cloud services, storage, and 5G modules. The Ethos-U55 NPU allows developers to scale AI models across MPU and MCU platforms, enabling consistent AI deployment across mid-range, high-end, and entry-level products.

RZ/G3E-EVKIT evaluation board

Developers can evaluate features of the RZ/G3E MPU using the Renesas Electronics RZ/G3E-EVKIT evaluation board. The RZ/G3E-EVKIT includes a module board (SOM) that complies with the SMARC v2.1 standard, as well as a carrier board.
