Process temperatures at the lower limit of the imaginable occur most of all when storing liquid gases such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen or carbon dioxide. The compression process enables storage and transport of the greatest possible amounts in containers. These cryogenic gases place considerable demands on the container material as well as on the other components such as valves or measurement equipments. The assembly of a pressure transmitter is carried out in two steps. In the first step a FEM analysed heat-conducting radiator increases the temperature to the point where the pressure measurement cell is in the field of its specified working temperature range. In the second step a specific cable with a defined length connects the signalling electronic system. The adjustment of the electronic pressure measuring instrument is carried out in a cold chamber which is cooled down with the help of nitrogen to create process conditions which are as authentic as possible. During the adjustment process the microcontroller compares and compensates pressure and temperature.
With an exact configuration of the process connection pressures can be measured up to 500 bar at a temperature of -193°C. On the outlet side any standard signals are possible.
