Rutronik introduces the new aluminum polymer rectangular capacitors of the APL90 series from KEMET

For 48 V applications

by gabi

KEMET’s aluminum polymer rectangular capacitors of the APL90 series are now expanding the Rutronik portfolio. The capacitors are AEC-Q200 qualified and are particularly suitable for meeting the requirements of 48 V vehicle applications and platforms that require compact designs. The APL90 series currently offers a high capacitance of 1,100 µF, a rated voltage of 63 VDC, as well as good vibration resistance and high ripple current capability. An important area of application for the APL90 series is the automotive sector, e.g. as a DC link in 48 V inverters for mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs). These capacitors are also ideally suited for use in data centers, e.g. as input capacitors in power supply units for 48 V systems. These and other components from the KEMET portfolio are available at www.rutronik24.com.

Suitable for use at operating temperatures from -55 °C to +125 °C, the component delivers outstanding volumetric efficiency. Its shape is ideal for efficient arrangement in modules and can be positioned both horizontally and vertically. The rectangular shape allows easy use with a heat sink either along the large surface of the aluminum housing or along its thickness.

Benefits at a glance:
• Rectangular shape for excellent volumetric efficiency and modular arrangements
• Easy use of multiple heatsink options for optimization of IAC
• Solution for designs with limited heights
• Lifetime of 2,000 hours at +125 °C (with VR and IR applied)
• High vibration up to 20 g
• Excellent ripple current capability up to 26 A

Application examples:
• Automotive:
– Power inverters
– Wall Boxes
– Water pumps
– Power Steering
– Fans
• Data centers:
– Input capacitors for 48 V system power supplies
