In a report published back in 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that over 1.2 million people die on the world’s roads each year, while 20 million to 50 million sustain non-fatal injuries. It also predicted that road traffic injuries will become the fifth largest cause of death globally by the time we reach 2030. While there has been progress toward improving road safety over the past 8 years, the WHO and other important bodies believe that the pace of change is too slow.
