COGNEX DATAMAN 500: barcode reading performance for any manufacturing application

21 JUNE 2011

DataMan 500 is the first ID reader to be powered by a proprietary vision chip, called Cognex VSoC™. VSoC gives DataMan 500 a technological advantage over other image-based readers and laser scanners.

The high-performance, fixed-mount barcode reader, DataMan® 500 from Cognex Corporation now is available for factory automation applications. DataMan 500 is the first ID reader to be powered by a proprietary vision chip, called Cognex VSoC™. VSoC enables DataMan 500 to have unmatched barcode reading performance and an ease-of-use not found in other image-based or laser systems available today. DataMan 500 offers the same powerful and proven 1DMax™ and 2DMax™ code reading technology found in other DataMan products for unmatched read rates on even the most difficult 1-D barcodes and 2-D matrix codes. VSoC technology enables DataMan 500 to offer unprecedented speeds on 1-D barcode reading with up to 90 decodes per second and ultrafast image acquisition with auto-exposure, at up to 1,000 frames per second.
DataMan 500, powered by VSoC, sets a new benchmark for ease of use with trigger-free reading and ultrahigh frame rates. These features reduce overall setup cost and deployment time. To achieve greater depth of field than other image-based barcode readers, the DataMan 500 provides flexible lens options and field interchangeable lighting.
