Mirror plants enable AWS Electronics to deliver top quality, best price cable assembly service

15 APRIL 2011

AWS Group – one of the UK’s leading independent Electronic Manufacturing Solutions (EMS) providers – has developed mirrored cable assembly operations in Newcastle-under-Lyme, UK and Namestrovo, Slovakia, enabling the company to deliver fast turn around, full production run and low cost manufacturing services.
Last year, the company introduced a quick turn around cable assembly service based its AWS Electronics manufacturing site in Newcastle-under-Lyme, reducing leadtimes for prototype or Fast Track requests to just three-five days. Normal production run work is completed in 15 working days. Now the company has set up a mirror facility in its newly-opened location in Slovakia so that it can offer low cost cable assembly to its high tech customer base. The Namestrovo plant has a dedicated cabling area measuring 450m2 with 56 fully-trained staff. Like the main plant in the UK, the Slovakian plant is more than just a manufacturing operation as it is supported by dedicated technical, purchase & stores activities.
Comments Group Sales Manager Mike Fairclough: “Our Namestrovo plant is set up in exactly the same way as our UK facility and we are approved to ISO 9001:2000. Our UK facility is also approved to IS0 1400:2004 and AS9100-B, as well as being awarded silver award status within the ADS (formerly SBAC) SC21 program, through our sponsor, General Dynamics, while at our Slovakia location we manufacture cable assemblies to IPC620 Class 3. By doing things ‘the AWS way’ at all our manufacturing locations our customers in the defence, aerospace, industrial and commercial sectors can be assured that they receive best quality product with high service levels at a commercially-advantageous price.”
