ED-V delivers Tekmos Replacement ICs after four Weeks

17 JUNE 2009

Tekmos Inc., together with its sales representative ED-V Gesellschaft für Elektronik + Design In mbH, presented itself for the first time in Germany. The US company specializes in design around the popular 8-bit core 8051 from NXP Semiconductors and offers replacement ICs for microcontrollers that have been obsoleted by the original vendor. Thanks to the integration of the configurable processor core together with a proven flash technology in a single package, individual customer solutions can be standardly implemented in an extremely short time and cost-effectively. The replacement ICs are code and timing compatible to the original parts however, manufactured in a modern CMOS process. The first prototypes are generally already available after four to eight weeks. The typical development costs for projects with small quantities are in the range of 5,000 to 10,000 Euros. Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs for larger orders of more than 10,000 devices are in the majority of cases not charged. The lowest quantity limit is determined by the assembly production lot and is approximately 1,000 devices. Tekmos has introduced a new TK80C51FA microcontroller designed as a replacement for ROMless 8051 series microcontrollers that have been obsoleted by other vendors.
