In addition to approximately 20 percent less power consumption, TFT displays with LED backlight also have further indisputable benefits compared to models with cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL). For example, they do not require a backlight inverter and therewith also no high voltage, which in turn reduces EMI radiation. Gleichmann Electronics presents a whole range of these innovative displays in Hall 9, Stand 235 at embedded world 2009. One of the highlights is the 15-inch industrial display G150 X G01V2 (built on the G150 X G01V1 CCFL model from AU Optronics) with 1024 x 768 pixels XGA resolution and power consumption of less than 10 W. A brightness of 350 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 700:1 typical together with wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 160° and 140° ensure good readability also under variable light conditions. The operating temperature ranges from 0°C to + 65°C and a supply voltage of 3.3 VDD is required. As with the CCFL version, this display conforms to the PSWG standard.
The displays with 800 x 600 pixels SVGA resolution also feature wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 160° and 140°.
